Sometimes, when I smile a certain way in photographs, I look like my mom when she was in her twenties. Watch her see this photo and go, "Nuh-uh!". ;) This photo is of Ricky, Amanda and Me at Amanda's Christmas party where we pretended the sparkling grape juice had an affect on us and we triapsed all over downtown lakeland taking poloroids in front of old-fashioned ice cream shops.

[Sunday January 08, 2006] |
So, I'm back at school. I love my dorm room. Its absolutely perfect and cozy. The best part is when I go down to the marketplace (cafeteria which is really close to my building), grab some breakfast to take-away and come back to my room and read a happy novel while eating a happy breakfast. Its really the best and I love it far more than my bedroom back home. Probably because its much more cleaner. Heh... I have so much to do tomorrow. I'm in a financial rut with no debit card and the majority of my cash is going towards my statistics book which I think I'll absolutely be needing this week. This means I have about $10 to live off of. Did I mention that I also need to pay for my meal plan which I won't be able to use because my student id is at home? My parents are overnighting it to me...so I should be more situated by wednesday. I've also got three classes to go to tomorrow. French, English and Statistics. I'm sort of excited but I get stressed out when there's a lot of things left un-done or shady. Now, I need to go have some 'Christina' time and just relax with some masterpiece theater on pbs and a cup of tea. :)

[Thursday January 05, 2006] |
work was rough today. The company is still run by it's founder who is 74 years old. He asked me when I was going to be engaged I said, "When someone proposes to me, sir" and he said, "Oh. When's that going to be?"

[Tuesday January 03, 2006] |
Today was my first day actually working in the office. It still doesn't feel like a real job since my employer doesn't give me actual hours. I don't even know WHO my actual boss is. Perhaps I should just explain from the very beginning how I got this job. Ok, so my mom works part time for an insurance company. Her job share partner, Sharon, is married to Bill who works at Sabal Homes (its a family business). Sharon volunteers to help the company on her days off and one day, she called me to ask if I'd be interested to help her when I go on holiday and such. I said, "sure!". So, I think of Sharon as my boss because I send her my hours, I call her for help, she tells me what to do...but I don't think she's actually employed with Sable Homes...which is weird. What's weirder is that I never had to fill out an application or request an interview. Anyway, Sharon usually had me helping out at a model home in my neighborhood. I had to drive around Brandon buying pillows, decorations, shower curtains, ect. Now that there isn't anymore to buy for the house, Sharon and Bill have me putting together this book of sorts with products that come with homes Sable builds. This means I have to cut pictures out of brochures, paste them to paper and put them in a folder. It sounds simple, but there's just SO much! Folders and Folders of stuff all crammed into a box. I had a pretty good day though. I got to sit at the "drawing table" and use the paper cutter all day. It was sort of like playing! After cutting pictures for a few hours, I went to Kinkos to make copies and made a quick stop at Taco Bell (dangerous love!). I went back to the office, did a bit more cutting and then came home to put some of the pages together. I couldn't do it at the office because they didn't have enough supplies. But tomorrow Sharon's bringing around some double stick tape and page protectors and I shall be little miss crafty once again.
edit: BookFinder.Com is my new best friend.

| Happy Years! ...(its not really new anymore) |
[Monday January 02, 2006] |
New Years Eve I: 01. Learned to play poker...and hated it. 02. Teamed up with David to play Settlers of Cattan...and almost won but didn't. 03. Rang in the new year with a wine glass of sparkling apple cider with Carrie, Lawrence, David, Joel, Bre, Brett and Alyse 04. Realized I brought my digital camera...without the memory card. 05. Set off fire works with Lawrence, David, Joel and Bre. Best part? Setting off five of those peter piper/screaming fire crackers at the same time at 1AM 06. Felt like Dumbledore with his putter-outer when we lit the roman candles.
( fake new year's resolution...but entirely possible )

| I am rather silly... |
[Tuesday December 27, 2005] |
So, after wallowing in self pity in the grey darkness of my bedroom, I've decided to mark today's earlier entry under private. I'm going through a difficult, personal time at the moment and although I claim to discard certain beliefs, I've found it quite hard to deny them in my heart. Therefore, I suppose, I am undoubtedly a servant to the Lord forever. I only hope that I can learn to follow him blindly, to quit puttering around, to quit listening to everyone else and just do what I know is right. I am done with deception and disguises...I hope. Jessica, I read your comment and I thank you, most sincerely. :) It was a great comfort.
On a lighter note, my cousin is coming to visit tomorrow. I am looking forward to it.

| Narnia |
[Saturday December 24, 2005] |
[mood| critical]
I saw the Chronicles of Narnia today. I liked it, but there's just something about reading the books that makes it so unbelieveably real. In my head, in my imagination, Narnia was as tangible to me as anything...but on the screen it looked make believe and the incredible magic was lost to me forever. I want to read the books again so I can get the real Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy back.
Unfortunately, they did the emotional Aslan part correctly...I was sobbing when they were only hinting that a sad part was going to be coming. I was sobbing during the sad part (which is what I'm calling so I don't spoil it for those who don't know the story)and sobbing after the sad part. I <3 Aslan. Even more so after my grandma thought it was a real lion.
Oh! And those wolves were so scary! Obviously, C.S. Lewis didn't own siberian huskies or any other wintry dog...otherwise he'd appreciate wolves and know they aren't vicious animals and are quite family oriented within their packs. They only kill sheep and such because farmers are too stupid to protect their properties. Humans are more vicious than wolves. Wolves don't kill a bunch of animals, eat the "good parts" and waste the rest.
...sorry for that mini rant.
Merry Christmas and log in for a special christmas music mix which is in a locked friend's only entry!

| Christmas Dinner |
[Sunday December 18, 2005] |
[mood| sociable]
Last night I drove to Lakeland to attend a Christmas dinner party hosted by my good friend Amanda. I love her to death and she bought me the most amazing christmas presents! We both love thrift stores, so when I opened one of the presents, it was this old japanese style tea set from a thrift shop. She also got me this really old jewlery box. Along with the thrift store finds, she bought me a picture frame from anthropologie, made me 2 cd mixes and my secret santa, Susan, bought me vanilla scented candles <3. After the dinner and gift exchange, me, Amanda and Ricky headed down town for coffee and took a bunch of pictures with Amanda's new polaroid camera. Downtown Lakeland is so pretty with its christmas lights and Ave Maria playing in the background.
Now, I'm off to buy christmas decorations.

[Wednesday December 14, 2005] |
[mood| relieved] So, its christmas vacation and my first semester of college is over. To be honest, my life feels so much different than it did while I was in high school, but to describe this different feeling, I'm afraid, is entirely impossible. All I can really say, is that I'm ready for the new semester to start and ready to meet more new people now that I know college isn't so scary after all.
On a lighter note: I can't wait for Saturday. I'm going to Amanda's Christmas Party. I need to be socialized. I haven't seen a friend in over two weeks.
I have a pretty new outfit for the party too. I haven't felt classy in months.
edit: I've changed the look around a bit. I found this layour from dubious.nu and I like the color schemes, ect...but I want to design my own header for the top, so look forward to a change sometime soon. :)

| poetry mix |
[Sunday November 20, 2005] |
I started a project and it has taken me quite a few days to complete, but alas, it is finished. I put much time into it and its a gift for someone. I only hope they appreciate it and fully enjoy it. What I did was, make a mix cd...only its not just a mix. For each song, I changed the title to a specific line from the song, so when you read the track listing, each line goes with the next, forming a poem of sorts.
[01] Its Cold Now (the christmas song by the raveonettes) [02] The heat pipes just cough (visions by johanna by bob dylan) [03] And one day in new York city, baby (ghost by neutral milk hotel) [04] All that's left has gone away. (look what you've done by jet) [05] You think your days are ordinary (she has no time by keane) [06] And there's something that you can't find. (misunderstood by wilco) [07] You love love love then you die (the absense of god by rilo kiley) [08] And its always been this way. (carrying cathy by ben folds)
[09] All the accidents that happen (joga by bjork) [10] Don't know what's going on (young fashioned ways by muddy waters) [11] I'm a mess he don't want to clean up. (paper bag by fiona apple) [12] I don't care what they say, (waltz for a night by julie delpy) [13] Take a sad song and make it better. (hey jude by the beatles) [14] a song to keep us warm: (exit music (for a film) by radiohead) [15] a Glasgow love theme (glasgow love theme by craig armstrong)

[Friday November 11, 2005] |
Last night was so much fun. I went ballroom dancing with Sarah, Ryan and Chris and the theme for the month is east cost swing. We also learned to waltz a little. It was incredible. After the intense dance lesson, Sarah, Chris and I headed over to campus crusade which dealt with a lot of intense singing. We then called Ryan and the four of us, with Alexa and her boyfriend went to Steak and Shake because Sarah grew an appetite out of nowhere. After steak and shake, while Ryan was trying to find a parking spot in the parking garage, he decided to blast Michael Buble from the stereo and drive crazy fast up the ramp with the windows down. It was so out of the blue and fun and a bit dangerous but all I could do was laugh and it made me think of that book and I just said, "you know, this is one of those moments sarah, those crazy moments that take you all in and leave you feeling infinite." We then all got out of the car and went back to get some swing music and ryan's laptop which we put on the bench outside our dorm building and the four of us just swing danced till 12.45 in the morning. So now, waking up, I feel exhausted and sore, but the good kind. You know, where you feel like you've been at the gym all day? Last night was just good. Really good.
